Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Cranaleith! Please note that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not currently accepting new volunteers. We invite you to check back for updates and announcements regarding future volunteer opportunities.
Cranaleith could not exist without our treasured volunteers, who give so graciously of their time. Volunteers are strong partners in the work we do. We have an array of positions, for both individuals and groups. We welcome corporate teams, office groups, schools, service organizations, alumni groups, associations, families, fraternities, sororities, and religious organizations.
In the spirit of Mercy hospitality, they:
- Welcome and check in guests
- Assist with answering telephones
- Offer professional skills
- Help with administrative tasks
- Work on special events
- Staff our gift shop
- Assist in our kitchen
- Help with light housework
- Work in our garden and on the property
Garden Wisdom Program
An annual six-month (April to September) eco-therapy program that brings together the homeless, those suffering from addictions and chronic mental illness, and volunteers from the community. Under the guidance of a clinical social worker and a Master Gardener, the participants are involved in planning, planting, tending and harvesting Cranaleith’s garden. Access to natural beauty in a safe, nurturing environment provides an atmosphere conducive to healing, dignity, and respect. Some of this year’s participants include friends from Bethesda Project, St. John’s Hospice and CATCH (Citizens Acting Together Can Help).
Volunteer time slots are varied; overnight accommodations are not available.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact us at 215-934-6206 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
