LaVerne King, RSM’s teaching and administration career has taken her to schools in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida and Delaware. In addition, LaVerne brought her innovative leadership skills to Peru, where she served as Director of an Occupational Educational Center for Women in the city of Chulucanus. Cranaleith’s gift shop carries lovely pieces crafted by the women. Most recently,  LaVerne ministered as principal of Christ The Teacher Catholic School in Newark, Delaware, which was twice named a Blue Ribbon school.  LaVerne was named a national recipient of the 2019 Lead. Learn. Proclaim. Award from the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA).

In January 2019, LaVerne was encouraged by the school community to accompany families for a time at the border in El Paso where so many were suffering.  In true Mercy fashion, she brought the witness of her experience home to Delaware as a source of awareness and education.
