Janice Edwards, RSM

Janice Edwards, RSM, is a Sister of Mercy who loves Monhegan Island and the God it reveals. Reading and praying with the mystic and scientist Teilhard de Chardin shaped her deep affection for Earth and God. She holds a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from the former Weston Jesuit School of Theology. Her ministry includes the Upper Room Spiritual Center, Chestnut Hill University and leadership in the Sisters of Mercy. In particular, she offered others spiritual direction, supervised spiritual directors, and taught groups about God’s tender and free-spirited movement with the universe. In 1991, Janice experienced debilitating brain surgery where she woke to see everything and everyone in a communion of being.  Monhegan Island became an embodiment of that communion.
