The Journey Home: A Retreat for Veterans Exploring Moral Injury Recovery

Kelly Denton-Borhaug, PhD, Jenny Pacanowski and LA Enck

August 14, 2026

You are invited to spend a day of reflection, connection, and renewal at Cranaleith Spiritual Center.

Surrounded by the peaceful beauty of Cranaleith’s woods, gardens, and walking paths, gather with fellow veterans for a retreat that honors the profound moral journey of military service. Together, we will explore the realities of moral injury, the possibilities of moral recovery, and the ongoing work of restoring moral well-being.

Throughout the day, you’ll have opportunities to reconnect with yourself and others, renew relationships with familiar faces, meet new companions on the journey, and revisit key insights about moral injury while exploring new perspectives on moral health. The retreat also includes an empowerment workshop where you’ll be invited to reflect, name, and write about your own experiences. The emphasis is not on reliving trauma, but on releasing the weight of the story and discovering new possibilities for healing and hope.

Whether this is your first time exploring moral injury or you have been walking this path for years, this retreat offers a welcoming space to engage at your own pace. Every aspect of the day has been thoughtfully designed to provide safety, support, and meaningful reflection.

Step away from the demands of daily life. Breathe deeply. Walk gently. Connect with others who understand. Together, we will create space to honor the journey home from military service—and continue the journey toward wholeness.
