Healing the Wounds of Our Time

Our world, wrapped in immense beauty, hope and sacredness, also, carries profound wounds that both touch us deeply and transcend us. At the core of these wounds is the spiritual disconnection from the Merciful One…from one another…and from our sacred creation. These wounds cry out to be heard, tended , healed, and transformed. Attentive to these cries and shaped by the critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy, Cranaleith leans particularly into ruptures centered on Earth, Racism, Immigration, Women, Nonviolence and Those on the Margins and the intersectionality inherent in them. These cries shape our programming and invite us into a contemplation that leads to action towards the repair and transformation of these wounds of our time.

Our Critical Concerns

Non-Violence

Cranaleith embraces nonviolence as the only path forward and invites others to this place to cultivate and nurture this way of being in the world.

As part of a joint venture between Cranaleith Spirtual Center and WE: Women Empowered, Cranaleith, this program for adult women caregivers and teenage girls who have been impacted by gun violence is funded through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD)  Violence Intervention Grant award totaling approximately $115,000 (annually).  Additional support for this innovative and comprehensive nonviolence effort has been provided through an Office of the District Attorney of Philadelphia Forfeiture Grant award totaling $25,000.

Anti-Racism

Cranaleith is proud to partner with New Encounters: Catholics Confronting Racism

The partnership Cranaleith Spiritual Center announced this month with New Encounters: Catholics Confronting Racism promises to bring renewal and healing toward racial justice, through the movement of the Holy Spirit. Since the summer of 2020, New Encounters has invited Catholics from across the region to heal the sin of racism through encounter with each other, formation in challenging conversations and workshops, and action aimed at transforming hearts, minds and institutions to embrace racial healing as a core issue for Catholics. New Encounters is now proud to move forward with Cranaleith Spiritual Center (a ministry of the Sisters of Mercy), which has provided space for contemplative conversations around racism as one of its critical concerns for over 25 years. New Encounters brings many gifts to this partnership: a network of community-members, programs that connect liturgical seasons, parishes and educators with the call to become “One Body” in Christ, and skilled facilitators to lead groups toward transformation around racial healing. Cranaleith welcomes this new partnership with New Encounters!
