CATCH (Citizens Acting Together Can Help, Inc.)
Most Thursdays, our friends from CATCH (Citizens Acting Together Can Help) spend a few hours with the Cranaleith staff. Our guests have been without housing and live with addiction, mental illness and/or intellectual disabilities. Like all of us, they enjoy opportunities to connect with the earth and to talk about the wisdom life teaches. We are so grateful for their friendship and hearing their wisdom.
What does a three-hour visit look like? In the cold months, Maria DiBello, RSM and Bernadette Rudolph alternate hosting these dear friends for reflective conversations and a walk outside (weather permitting). Mary Kay Eichmann, RSM and staff member, Jess Wszolek, lead the group in creative artwork. In the warmer months, our CATCH friends help Jess and Bernadette in the vegetable garden and watering planters around the property. Bernadette also leads the group in a spiritual conversation connected to their garden work. Year round, the visit wraps up with a delicious chef-prepared meal and conversation in the dining room.

St. John's Hospice
The men of St. John’s Hospice volunteer at Cranaleith spring through late fall to help maintain Cranaleith’s grounds. St. John’s is a homeless shelter and soup kitchen run by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Catholic Social Services in Center City. They enjoy being outside in nature and accomplishing the tasks that keep our garden beds, woods and the bioswale in good shape. Staff member, Ruben Joseph, and volunteer, Fred Trainer, invite their ideas as well as their hard work. They have become our friends. We greatly appreciate their work, as well as who they are.
