From the Associated Press story: “Black Catholic Nuns: A compelling long-overlooked history” published on April 30: “Among the many pioneers is Sister Cora Marie Billings, who as a 17-year-old in 1956 became the first Black person admitted into the Sisters of Mercy in Philadelphia.
