Leslie Porreca, RSM, is a Sister of Mercy of the Mid-Atlantic Community. She has been called to minister as a clinical social work therapist, artist, and garden-farmer. As head of Cranaleith’s Contemplative Ecology initiatives, Leslie has been garden-farming for the last thirty years. Before coming to Cranaleith, she had the experience of reclaiming a sheep farm in Vermont and returning it to a functional organic farm. This experience brought many opportunities for growing food and networking with other farmers. Together they started a coalition with the food bank where harvest was shared. Sister Leslie has offered cooking classes centering on nutrition and healthy eating. At Cranaleith, she brings it all together: growing, cooking, and teaching about the benefits of healthy eating; growing food organically; and helping people cultivate their souls as they care about others and Earth. Sister Leslie holds a B.A. degree from Immaculata University and an MSS, LCSW degree from Bryn Mawr College.
