Do you want to make a retreat but your schedule and responsibilities – to say nothing of the pandemic – keep you from it? Try this new “busy person’s retreat.” Carve out at least ten minutes a day for six days for reflection and renewal. You can choose from a variety of prayers, insightful readings and spiritual practices centered around a daily theme to fit your preferred prayer style and your schedule. Have more time one day? Add a few more elements or use the reflection questions to stop during the day for journaling or prayer.
THE THEME: UNDERCURRENTS
Forces are at work in the natural world and we, who are connected in every way to this world, live in the midst of these forces. What’s more, God speaks to us in and through these forces. They are woven into our Scriptures, our moods, our creativity and our longings. Tune into the undercurrents in your life and meet the merciful God who awaits you there!
Because community is a place where we meet God (Mt 18:20), we will gather together (via Zoom) three times for an hour each. Session 1, May 1, will open the theme of undercurrents with prayer and sharing as well as orient you to the materials you will use at home. We will meet again on Monday, May 3, at 7 pm and once more on Thursday, May 6, to pray, share and check in.
Using the materials provided, you will explore a different undercurrent each day:
- May 1 – Gravity: What Secures You
- May 2 – Migration: Guided Mobility
- May 3 – Cycles #1: Repairing and Renewing
- May 4 – Cycles #2: Adapting to Changing Circumstances
- May 5 – Growth: Responding to the Light
- May 6 – Darkness: When Enough Is Enough
