Choosing Mercy

“A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.” –Pope Francis

March 11, 2022

Dear Friends,

Mercy is a choice. While mercy flows freely from God, we must choose to accept it in our hearts and choose to share it with the world. Cranaleith is a contemplative spiritual center that flows from mercy. When you became a friend of Cranaleith, you too chose mercy. For that I thank you.

Our merciful work, of course, is never done. With the recent retirement of Cranaleith’s Executive Director, Deborah Kost, the Board of Directors asked me to step-in as Interim Executive Director while they conduct a search for Cranaleith’s next leader. I willingly accepted the opportunity to be Interim because the merciful work of Cranaleith is needed now more than ever.

This pandemic has changed how we conduct our lives in unwanted ways, and many people are reaching out for healing, renewal, and for the tender hand of mercy. This is especially true for those Cranaleith seeks to serve–those on the margins and those who work with them.

We will continue to underwrite our programs to keep costs low, offer scholarships for those with economic hardship, and continue to build partnerships with like-minded organizations. We cannot do this without you. Today, I am asking you to help continue this vital work by making a gift to Cranaleith.

I am thrilled to tell you that any donation you make before April 30th will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000 by a generous donor! Double the impact of your gift by donating today. (As Catherine McCauley once commented, “No matter how small the gift, God gives the increase.”) I invite you to use the enclosed envelope to make a contribution to the fund that speaks to your heart. You can also give online at cranaleith.org/donate and select a fund from the drop-down menu.

With your financial support, together, we will continue to respond to the spiritual needs of our wounded world by choosing mercy.

Thank you for your generosity!

In mercy,

Ellen Murray, RSM, PhD

Interim Executive Director
